Elevate Your Home With These 8 Must-Have Coffee Table Books

Oh, coffee table books. In the world of interior design, there are very few things that top my love for a beautiful coffee table book. A linen hardcover. The embossed typography. The beautiful photography that spreads amongst the pages. Coffee table books hold a special place in my heart because they were the thing that got me into interior design at a young age.

Our coffee table at home was filled with coffee table books (albeit, they were not as beautiful as the ones now lol!) but I vividly remember flipping through them as a child with my mom and being mesmerized by beautiful architecture and seeing all the details that went into bringing a space to reality.

While my design style and tastes have changed over the years, there’s a handful of books that I will hold near and dear to me — ones that will be in my home forever. A classic, just like a little black dress is in a wardrobe. So whether or you’re a design enthusiast or someone looking to elevate your home, these are a few of my favourite coffee table books that will stand the test of time.

1. Arranging Things by Colin King

Colin King is an acclaimed stylist and interior designer and I’ve been a huge fan of his work. In this visually stunning coffee table book, King shares his expert insights on how the placement of objects in a space can transform our perception and evoke emotion. With a minimalist aesthetic, the book features beautiful photographs that showcase how balance, harmony, and composition can turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary ones.

2. The Kinfolk Table by Kinfolk

This book is more than just a cookbook; it's a guide to simple, wholesome eating and the ethos of slowing down to enjoy every moment. Compiled by Nathan Williams, founder of Kinfolk magazine, this beautiful coffee table book invites you into the intimate dining environments of creative individuals from around the world, offering a collection of 85 delectable recipes that emphasize simplicity, quality, and seasonal fare.

Style tip: The slipcover of this book is stunning but I LOVE this book without. It has the most beautiful linen texture.

3. The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin

I first bought this book for it’s aesthetic and it made it’s forever place on my coffee table but I had a friend tell me that the book is as beautiful as it’s cover and it’s now on my TBR. This compelling coffee table book not only explores the intricacies of creativity found within the music industry but also delves into the universal lessons that apply to any creative endeavour. Being a designer and multi-passionate creative myself, I’m so excited to dive into this book!

My idol 🥹 – no seriously though lol. I am in true awe of everything that Athena puts out and this book is absolutely stunning. Her book is a celebration of aesthetic living, offering readers a glimpse into the art of creating beauty in every aspect of life. With her expert eye for design, she focuses on how small changes can make a big impact.
